Brexit will affect your company if:
... it sells goods or supplies services to the UK
... it buys goods or receives services from the UK
... it moves goods through the UK
... it uses UK materials and goods to trade under preferential schemes with EU partner countries.

The transition period, during which not much changed for citizens and companies in frame of relationship with the Great Britain, has concluded on 31 December 2020. Since 2021 number of significant changes will occur in mutual cooperation and business. The Czech Embassy in London lists main changes and useful links to UK instructions for exporters in the article above.

Since 2021 - Trade and Cooperation Agreement

After series of intensive talks the European Commission reached Trade and Cooperation Agreement with the UK on future cooperation with the EU. The UK will no loger benefit from the access to the Single Market and Customs Union, neither from the EU policies and international agreements (including those with third countries.)

For specific information on the agreement follow to the chapter focused on the Trade and Cooperation Agreement.

However, a number of changes occured regardless of the agreement. Ministry of Industry and Trade therefore prepared infographics explaining the state of play of negotiations, future changes in regulations, impact on customs and many more (available in Czech only.)

Both English and Czech instructions for hauliers and commercial drivers on transporting goods between UK and EU from 1 January 2021 were issued by the Government of the UK. You can also read a 40pages guidance (here in Czech language.)

These changes are inevitable and all stakeholders need to be duly prepared for them. The European Commision has been updating guidance preparedness noticespublished during the Article 50 negotiations with the United Kingdom.

In the area of tax and customs, the relevant updated ‘notices for readiness’ can be found underneath:

The full list of readiness notices is available here.

We also recommend to check the Dutch Portbase system for international transporters and the webpage http://www.getreadyforbrexit.eu/, or at least a short official video:

If you transport goods between UK and EU, we highly recommend to go through Guidance for haulage companies and commercial drivers moving goods, explaining what documents you will need, how to follow new rules to manage traffic heading to ports and explaining also new border control processes.
